Abstract

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) have emerged as a critical global public health threat, with mortality rates in CRE bloodstream infections ranging from 40–50%. Carbapenems serve as lastresort antibiotics; their compromise by carbapenemase-producing organisms severely limits therapeutic options. The present study was undertaken to detect carbapenemase production by phenotypic method (mCIM) in carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and to determine its effect on the antimicrobialsusceptibility pattern in a tertiary care hospital in Rajasthan, India.
